The Deadliest Natural Disaster In The World

Natural disasters are a consequence of the combination of a physical event, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides and natural activity caused by human behaviour. Human weakness, due to a lack of good management of an emergency, causing losses in the financial sector and structural, even to death. The resulting loss depends on the ability to prevent or avoid disasters and their resilience to disasters.

Many natural disasters that occur on this earth, there are only a few people recognized until there is a very strong, causing many casualties.

  • Aleppo Earthquake, Syria (1138)

Aleppo Earthquakes, Syria, killed about 230 thousand people. In the data the US Geological Survey (USGS), this is the fourth deadliest earthquake of all time.

The earthquake has triggered a series of tsunamis along the Indian Ocean coast at the border, killing many people and submerge coastal communities. The amount initially recorded as magnitude 9.0, but it has increased to 9.1 and 9.3 on the Richter scale. This earthquake is the second largest earthquake ever recorded on a seismograph that caused worldwide vibrating as much as half an inch, or more than one centimetre.

The earthquake caused a tsunami killed about 230,000 people in 8 countries. The tsunami waves as high as 9 meters. This disaster is a disaster with the greatest number of deaths throughout history. Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand is a country with the largest number of deaths.
  • Destruction Of Banqiao Dam, China (1975)

Banqiao dam designed to handle the flood of 1000 yearly or once every 1000 years. Until August 1975, flooding caused by rains do not stop along more than one year. Finally unable to accommodate the overflow sluice, partly because of sedimentation. As a result, the dam burst at 64 points.

  • Tangshan Earthquake, China (1976)

A magnitude 8 on the Richter Scale rocked Tangshan, China, killed 255 thousand to 655 thousand inhabitants. Tangshan earthquake is one of the largest earthquakes in modern times seen from the number of victims. The epicentre of the earthquake was near Tangshan, Hebei, China, an industrial city populated by about one million inhabitants. The earthquake occurred at 03:42:53 local time (July 27, 1976) and lasted for 15 seconds. China's official government sources recorded an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale although some sources say up to 8.2. This earthquake is the first earthquake in the history of the modern world that destroyed a large city.

The PRC government refused international aid and criticized for the slow handling. This situation contributes to the political changes and finally put an end to the Chinese cultural revolution.
  • Kaifeng Flood, China (1642)

Kaifeng, a city in northern Henan province, China, located along the southern bank of the Yellow River. The flood deliberately created by the army of Emperor Ming to prevent a takeover by rebels led by a farmer, Li Zicheng. More than 600,000 thousand Kaifeng victims were killed by floods and famine and plague as well as post-disaster disease. This is the strategy of the deadliest war in history and the second largest human sacrifice in his time.
  • Cyclone Hurricane, India (1839)

In 1839, 40-foot tidal wave hit the port city of Coringa. The tidal waves caused by a major storm that hit India at that time. As a result of this devastating hurricane, more than 300,000 people were killed.   • Bhola Hurricane, Bangladesh (1970)

Bhola storm is destroying the tropical storm that struck East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and West Bengal of India on November 12, 1970. It is the deadliest tropical cyclone ever recorded, and one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern times. Up to 500,000 people lost their lives in the storm, primarily as a result of storm surge that flooded most of the low-lying islands of the Ganges Delta. This storm is associated with the sixth hurricane in the 1970 season in the northern Indian Ocean, and also the strongest season.

The storm formed in the Bay of Bengal on November 8 and headed north, and reached its peak with winds of 185 km / h (115 mph) on November 12, on the coast of East Pakistan. The storm surge devastated many islands offshore, removing and destroying crops in villages throughout the region. The worst hit areas was Thana, Tazumuddin, more than 45% of the population of 167 000 people were killed by the storm.
  • Shaanxi Earthquake, China (1556)

Shaanxi earthquake or Jiajing earthquake was the deadliest quake, killing about 830,000 people in China. Occurred on the morning of January 23, 1556 in Shaanxi, during the Ming Dynasty. More than 97 counties in the province of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Gansu, Hebei, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu and Anhui affected. Approximately 840 kilometre area has been destroyed, and in some countries 60% of the population was killed.

Most of the population in the region live in yaodongs or cave made on a cliff, but the cliff was crumbling during disasters and has claimed many victims.
  • Yellow River Flood, China (1887)

Yellow River flooding is estimated to have killed 1 million to 3.7 million people. There were drowned, disease due to flooding, also starved. This river has also been run over and killed the victim with a tremendous amount equal.

Flooding of the Yellow River in China are destructive floods. The river is prone to flooding because of the high nature of the river, between the embankments above the vast plains surrounding it. Flooding that began in September 1887 destroyed the surrounding area. It is one of the worst natural disasters ever recorded.
  • China Flood, China (1931)

China flooding is a series of floods that occurred during the decade Nanjing in China. It is the deadliest natural disaster ever recorded in the 20th century in China. Noted human has claimed 145,000 initially estimated to increase to 3,700,000 up to 4,000,000 people.

Many sites say the floods caused by flooding of the Yellow River, but in reality, not just flooding of the Yellow River, but all major rivers such as the Huai River, Yangtze River and the Yellow River as well. China floods have destroyed towns and villages.
